Today was incredible! We stayed up pretty late last night so
we slept in yet again and then went and grabbed some lunch! I had an incredible
pizza (pictured below obviously), but one thing that happened to us for the
first time was that we had to PAY to sit down. We were told this would happen,
but it didn’t happen until now.
Definitely something I’ll have to get used to, but glad I’m on Daddy’s
dime!
On that note, I received the most wonderful, encouraging
email today from my Uncle Brian advising that I make the most of my Italian
adventure by spending as much of my Dad’s money as possible. So from here on
out my adventures will be a heck of a lot more expensive! I have to follow the
advice of my superiors! Right?
After lunch, we met our class at the Stazione Brignole train
station. From there we went to Nervi, a section of Genova that is known for its
gorgeous coast and promenade along the coast. Below are several pictures from
our time there.
We stopped while hiking and had class in a park for a short
while and then toured a couple of museums.
After class, we were on our own to explore more and head back whenever.
When it was time to head back, we went to the train station
and did everything we were instructed to do. It wasn’t until we had bought and
validated our train ticket that we realized it would be another two hours until
the train arrived. Luckily, one of our classmates is fluent in Italian and
train tickets can double as bus tickets. Through lots of questioning and praying,
we ended up back in the city by bus. I actually really enjoyed it because we
got to see the rest of Genova that we didn’t get to see by train!
Back in the city, we began looking for places to eat! We
ended up on one of the main streets and stopped at a restaurant we had passed
by many times. It is a very suave looking place and we stopped because the menu
outside was written in English! It was a bit more expensive (just taking that
advice), but it was totally worth it because I was able to eat some meat, which
isn’t as common here as in the U. S. I also ordered French fries… I guess my
homesickness comes in the form of food! Obviously… I took a picture for y’all!
Tomorrow we head to FLORENCE! This is what I’ve been waiting
for since I signed up for the trip! I am beyond thrilled to be going here and
can’t wait to share it with everyone! So much to do in so little time! Ciao!
